Dear Helga,

It’s been a few years since you left Naxos. But I can still remember that morning, when I was shocked by your risky decision. From your words, I can learn your hatred of Naxos, of the South, even of part of your identity—Negro.

I do not know what’s your feeling of living as a mixed race without family support, so I can do nothing but feeling frustrated with your pessimism. In my opinion, it was really nice having you here. You were the only one who had the sense of values of rarer things of life and I really appreciated you. However, you never tell anybody anything about you, then no one can truly help you with your problems. Later in that day, I hoped to have a talk with you and help you, but you had already left and nobody knew where you had gone.

To be honest, I appreciated your courage, for I stayed in Naxos till now though I hated some of its disciplines and people. But I had my family here, I can’t just leave them and run away. What I want to say is that, you have the courage and opportunity to find where you feel belonged to. Don’t waste your chance. At the same time, please keep in mind that there was no place which can meet all your needs. You need to find a friendly environment and create your “place” by yourself. Remember, not to be so censorious then you can find your happiness more easily.

BTW. I was really curious about your experience in the past few years.
Hope to hear from you soon!

Yours, Margaret
